Academic Excellence at Reynolds Sports Academy

At Reynolds Sports Academy,

“R” Academy has researched and found the highest level in Home Based Education. Education in a structured environment is “R” number 1 priority, this can not be overstated; the importance of education within the Reynolds Academy is paramount. We are preparing our students for college and beyond. Our goal is to have every student who attends “R” Academy to attend College or a University.

We believe that elite athletic training should go hand-in-hand with a strong academic foundation. That’s why our student-athletes are enrolled in fully accredited online education programs designed to support academic success while accommodating demanding training schedules.

Our academic partners offer rigorous, college-preparatory curricula for students in grades 3–12. These programs include Honors courses, Advanced Placement (AP) options, and Dual Enrollment opportunities that allow students to earn college credit while still in high school.

Key academic features include:

  • Individualized Learning Paths: Each student receives a customized academic plan to fit their learning style and pace, ensuring mastery of core concepts and encouraging intellectual growth.

  • Certified Teachers: Students are guided by experienced, state-certified educators who provide instruction, feedback, and one-on-one support through both online and phone-based communication.

  • Interactive Learning Tools: From digital resources to hands-on materials, students engage with dynamic content designed to bring learning to life—everything from textbooks and classic literature to science kits and real-world experiments.

  • Strong Academic Community: Students and families benefit from an active, supportive school culture that offers virtual clubs, academic events, and regular opportunities to connect with peers and educators.

Reynolds Sports Academy empowers student-athletes to thrive—both on the ice and in the classroom—by providing a flexible, high-quality education that prepares them for college and beyond.

How Does the Academic Program Work at Reynolds Sports Academy?

What kind of school program do students follow?

Reynolds Sports Academy partners with accredited online programs that provide a flexible, high-quality public education for students in grades 3–12. These programs are fully certified by the state of Texas and follow a college-preparatory curriculum with options like Honors, AP, and Dual Enrollment.

How do students choose their classes?

Each semester, students (with help from their families and our academic team) choose their courses based on their grade level, goals, and academic needs.

When do students attend class?

Students attend live, online classes taught by certified teachers. These are scheduled at specific times throughout the week, just like a regular school day. If a student can’t attend a class due to travel or illness, they can usually watch a recorded version later.

When do students complete their assignments?

Similar to traditional schools, students have time for both live instruction and independent work. When they’re not in a live class, they use their time at Reynolds Academy to complete assignments, study, or get extra help. Since the program is online, all work is essentially “homework”—but most of it is completed during the structured school day at the academy.

What if my child has a question about an assignment?

Students receive daily in-person support from our on-site Learning Coach, who is in the classroom to help with questions, guide students through their coursework, and keep them on track.

If additional help is needed, students (and parents) can reach out to their online teachers via email or phone. Teachers are responsive and available to support your child as needed. Some classes even offer optional support sessions for students who want extra help.

How is student progress monitored?

Our on-site academic administrator (Learning Coach) works closely with families to make sure students are staying on track. They:

  • Record daily attendance

  • Monitor assignment completion and grades

  • Communicate regularly with online teachers

  • Share weekly updates with parents about student progress or concerns

  • Help students navigate the online system and stay organized

We are committed to supporting each student academically and keeping families informed every step of the way.

Are students held accountable for their academic progress?

Yes. We hold all students to high academic standards. If a student falls behind—for example, by completing less than 85% of their weekly assignments, failing one or more classes, or having multiple grades below a C—they may have reduced participation in sports dedicated activities until they are back on track. This is determined by the Learning Coach and Coach Bobby Reynolds.
